RESONANT TEXTILES - An on-going collaboration with Cas Holmes
October 2009
'Natural Histories -'a textile exhibition at Farnham Maltings, Farnham, Surrey from 12-26 October and touring .Anne Kelly and Cas Holmes in their collaboration 'Resonant Textiles', continue to develop work for both gallery and non-gallery spaces. We like to use discarded items, waste material no longer considered useful. Our work is informed by personal experience, places visited, the local landscape, old and forgotten textiles. Recycled materials and waste have a history and this is the focus for the work. Fabrics , found objects and papers are exchanged broken down, torn, and cut, and then re-assembled to create new textiles from old. Fragments and layers mark the passing of time, the rituals of making (cutting paper, gathering materials, machining, sewing) acting as part of the narrative of the work. The environmental impact of producing work from waste in recessionary times in an artistic context is explored.
The exhibition at Farnham Maltings is up:
We're delighted with the way our work complements one another's and how good it looks in the bright and airy
East Wing Gallery. We're hoping lots of visitors will see it next weekend at the 'Festival of Crafts'. (see blog entries for October 2009).
February 2010:
We are continuing to work together through mutual study/work days and 'Natural Histories' continues touring this year starting with Artworks MK, Great Linford Arts Workshop, Milton Keynes, 3 June - 3 July - www.artworks-mk.co.uk.
In September it will travel to Maidstone Library Gallery, St. Faith's St., Maidstone, 10 September - 15 October 2010.

Artworks mk - 5 june - 3 july 2010 - continuing tour of 'Natural Histories':
we hung the second leg of our exhibition yesterday! it looks great in the rough hewn walls of artworks mk. We are delighted with our new Joint piece - 'Domestic mapping' (BelOW)
