Artist statement:

I grew up and trained as a fine artist in Canada and was awarded a travel grant after completing my degree and decided to live and work in London. I continued my training at Goldsmiths College. I collect of vintage fabric, paper and ephemera using collage, stitch, photographic and print processes to create a range of work, most of which is framed. My inspirations are travel, memory and vintage imagery from a variety of sources.

These have been described as 'small worlds' and my current layered mixed media work started life as mainly botanical in subject matter before developing into larger more narrative works. I assemble and reassemble the components of each piece using sketchbooks and digital imagery. Often it can be a small scrap or remnant of fabric that inspires a whole piece. I love looking at birds, and how they fit in to different environments and they appear in many current pieces. I produce collaborations and commissions for a range of local and national conservation and cancer charities.

Currently I am exhibiting in the UK, Canada and the US. I have co-written a book for Batsford/Anova which was published in 2013 called 'Connected Cloth'.I am currently writing at book due out in 2016 called Textile Nature. I was artist in residence at Sussex Prairies Garden in 2014 and am guest artist at the Harbour Gallery in Jersey next month. I continue to exhibit in solo and group exhibitions, in a variety of public and private venues and I teach art and mixed media to different age groups and levels of ability.
